Dear RunnerFolk,

Who is heading up to the Flint Hills in Kansas for the Heartland 50 or 100 on October 10? I'm nursing a sore knee, fell on it in the T&T run and at Flat Rock but I'm hoping to run the 50 miler.

I'm pretty sure I saw some TATURs on the entry list.

Happy trails,

Earl

Although my training has been lousy since finishing Leadville 6 weeks ago, I am going to Heartland for the 100. Since I have very limited options just 8 days before the race, I am choosing the "be very rested" race-preparation tactic.

Dear Randy,

<<I am choosing the "be very rested" race-preparation tactic. >>

Beats my pre-race strategy of "don't run and just hope the knee heals in time"; also known as the "Hail Mary" strategy.

See you there I hope,

Earl

Going. Training has been so-so....just enough to get me to the finish line I hope. I am running with Ken Saveth who is hell bent on finishing the race. Question will be, who pulls who through?

Dear RunnerFolk,

I did a fast six miles on Riverside last night to test out the knees. Looks like they'll be good for a while anyway so I'll be heading up to Kansas for the 50 miler. Hope to see a lot of TATURs there and a bunch of KUS people I have seen in years. Can't believe it's been so long since I did Rockin' K.

Happy trails,

Earl

2 days til Heartland!! 100 miles of open prairie, and freezing nighttime temps. Sounds great!

Good luck everyone. I am very jealous. Wish I were going. I will be thinking about you though. I did look to enter at one time about two or three months ago and low and behold, they were already full! It really surprised me. But someday I will make it to the Heartland.
